I used to have terrible eating habits, fried foods, lots of snacks, and eating right before bed. I was also very unhappy in my career, which made it difficult to enjoy my life outside of work. I realized I needed to do something to change this. Now what I did may seem a bit extreme and I don't recommend it for everyone but sometimes it takes something big to make a change. I decided to save as much money as I could and quit my job, I then booked a flight to New Zealand and took a 9 month solo mission to take myself out of my comfort zone. I was able to look at a much larger picture of life. This allowed me to really look at what made me happy in life and what I would like to accomplish in life. It also allowed me a lot of personal time, in which I discovered yoga and cooking for myself. I noticed that the more at peace I was with myself the less I craved the "comfort foods" that I used to crave all the time. I was able to increase my patience as well, I think that had to do with all the different forms of travel, planes, trains and buses. My dream is to have people realize the importance of human decency and respect for all. The world could be a much better place if people could find their happiness and live a more peaceful and healthy life. Also,I believe, as a nation if we utilize all of our resources and find ways to make the 'healthy' food easier for all to purchase the benefits would be amazing. Eating poorly may make people tired and sometimes cranky and will eventually weigh you down. Eating right change attitudes for the better and I do believe could make many people happy and when people are happy the world is a better place.
I leave you with one of my favorite quotes that has helped me change my lifestyle,
"don't ask what the world needs, ask what makes you alive and go do it ~ because what the world needs is people who have come alive!" ~howard thurman
